With colorful Malabrigo Rasta gifted to me for the holidays, I designed and knit the Rasta Gift Cowl.
The cowl takes just a few hours to knit, and makes a perfect gift or warm accessory to any outfit.
Finished size: 7” height; 28” circumference; (For a longer cowl, purchase a second skein of yarn.)
Gauge: 9 stitches = 4” (k1,p1 rib)
Materials:
Yarn: Rasta by Malabrigo Yarn Super Bulky 100% Merino 90 yards / 150 grams
Needles: US15 (10mm), 24”circular needles
Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle
Abbreviations: BO=bind off CO =cast on K=knit P=purl RS= right side WS=wrong side *=repeat Row/s=row/s S1=Slip one stitch purlwise with yarn in front
Directions: With
US15(10mm)needles, Cast on 17sts.
Hem: Rows
1-5: Knit
Cowl
pattern:
RS Rows 1, 3: * (K1, p 1), to last st, k1
WS
Rows 2, 4: With yarn in front, S1, * (K1, p1), to last st, with yarn
in front, S1.
(WS
Rows 2, 4: you will not purl the first and last stitch. These
stitches will be slipped with the yarn held, or brought to the front.
This gives
the rows a cleaner edge.)
Rows 5, 6: Knit
As yarn allows, repeat the pattern rows total 14 times.
Finish: Bind off and sew ends together; or
Pick up cast on stitches to 3needle bind off; or
Pick up cast on stitches to work Kitchener Stitch.
