Taking
inspiration from our coastal love of holidays, I have developed
the Coastal Holiday Shawl. If the Coastal Holiday Shawl is
knit in a cotton blend, perfect for cool spring and summer evenings.
If knit in blended wool, great for the blustery winter.
The shawl is worked with 2
increases on beginning
Right Side. The eyelet and swell will
be worked on the Wrong Side,
along with
1
decrease,
creating an asymmetrical shawl. The
wave will be worked on the Wrong
Side along with
bind-off
steps.
This might be considered an advance beginner pattern because
knowledge of stitch and shawl construction are helpful. The
shawl
takes a few evenings or weekends to complete, making the Coastal Holiday
Shawl a perfect gift or accessory.

Here are photos of the process:
The Knit Picks Hawthorne Parkrose (pink yarn) arrived for my birthday! I ordered a coordinating Chroma Carnival yarn from KnitPicks. |
I wound the pink skein into a ball, looked at the inside pull of the carnival, and selected needles. |
I worked the swell using hanging markers for the Row8 repeats. I also had a life line, and the green daily progress markers. |
I used hanging markers to note the picots. |
